Love not Landfill

Love not Landfill

In the UK each week 38 million tonnes of clothing are bought each week and 11 million go into landfill. Love not Landfill is a campaign funded by the EU and London Waste and Recycling Board. Their mission is to encourage alternative ways to update wardrobes and divert clothes from landfill. Whether this be by investing well in loved clothes, swapping current items with friends or shopping second-hand.

With the second-hand idea in mind Love not Landfill and Emma Slade Edmondson have created a pop-up shop that will take place at the Truman Brewery from Thursday 8th until Sunday 11th November. The Thursday to Saturday opening hours are 10am-7pm. Sunday it will be open from 11am-6pm. There will be charity shop collections curated by bloggers, exclusive art from street artist Bambi, and workshops including upcycling plain jackets into something a little more exciting with Oxfam, a darning workshop with Traid, a jewellery mending workshop with Trinity Hospice and a 90’s Fashion Upcycling Party with Charity Fashion Live and Barnardo’s.

Whilst I have curated Oxfam’s collection, the pop up shop will also contain the following collections:
– The Barnardo’s Collection by the Confetti Crowd
– The Traid Collection by Lizzie Loves
– The Trinity Hospice by Jasmine Hemsley

I’m so excited to be a part of Love not Landfill’s campaign and know the event will be a great place to shop all things second-hand and get inspired! If you’re in east London next weekend I hope to meet you rummaging amongst the rails and finding some charity shop gems.
