I blinked at the beginning of January and it’s suddenly August. It feels as though we’ve gone straight for summer. Straight into a heatwave and I haven’t been prepared. That was until a little charity shopping.
After a stroll around the Kentish Town charity shops, an area I would recommend for a good few second-hand shops in a row, I hopped on the bus and headed to a friends in Archway. I can’t head to Archway without a quick (or not so quick) browse in the Crisis charity shop just to the right of the underground station. There are a three charity shops to the right of the underground station so if you have a spare 10 minutes (*cough* hour *cough* ) then they are definitely worth a browse. The Crisis shop is pretty big and is one of my favourites but once you’re done in here you can cross the road to two smaller but equally as treasure shrove-y (a made up word for you there) shops.
On this particular occasion, in Crisis I was on the hunt for all things heat appropriate since we were in the midst of the hottest summer ever, I headed straight for the dress rail. Sandwiched between all the colourful second-hand loveliness was this dress. New with tags still in tact. My size. At a fraction of what it would have been on the high-street. This dress has been a heatwave lifesaver as I can throw it on with nothing but a pair of trainers and I’m good to go.
No thought required dressing is good for me with the higher temperatures as the most I seem to be able to do at the weekend is lie in the park, with a gin and food surrounding an ice pack, re-reading the same sentence of my book 57 times with regular nap sessions. Hard times, eh.
