A Sunday well spent brings a week of content. That’s what someone, somewhere once said and it seems to have stuck. If I get to the end of Sunday and I feel like I have achieved something that day then I feel per-retty smug whilst watching Sunday night’s Call the Midwife/Homeland/*cough*Celebs go Dating*cough*.
However, if it gets to 7.14pm and I’m still in the same position on the sofa as I was at 10.30am with my duvet, pondering over which one of my 63 Mojitoes must have been spiked last night because I feel so goddam awful then I don’t feel as optimistic for Monday. In that situation, the best I can hope for is a hangover-free Monday.
This is why I think a little fashion DIY is great for a Sunday. Not only are they quite therapeutic, require little energy, can be completed whilst watching so much Netflix that it ask you whether you’re still there (always a worry…) and be accessorised with copious cups of coffee, they also mean you can take a charity shop item (for a few pounds) and make it into something that would cost a lot more on the high-street. A Sunday well spent in my eyes.
This denim skirt DIY is so straight forward, it makes you feel productive on a weekend using minimal effort.
– A second-hand denim skirt
– Star Studs (I purchased these ones from eBay)
1. I began by cutting the hem of the skirt (as I’m a little on the short side) and pulling out threads to give it a frayed looking hem.
2. Then it was simply a case of piecing the skirt with the stars (they were fairly sharp). Then, using the side of the blade of a closed pair of scissors, I pushed the spikes of the stars closed.
And that’s it. The easiest DIY you can do whilst still pretty much lying horizontal on the sofa for an entire weekend. Great things.
