For me, January the 1st always arrives with resolutions, a little re-evaluation of how many potato’s I have eaten over the previous 2 weeks – and a hangover.
This year was no different. I woke up and cursed a little. Was that last vodka cocktail needed to see in the New Year? Probably not. Should I attempt dry January? Probably.
January can feel like a new beginning. A chance to re-think the new 12,497 daily Christmas calorie intake. A chance to re-think the excuse that because it’s the festive period it would be only right to spend all your money without going near a bank app, y’know to check that you’ll be able to afford January’s rent. A chance to re-think the idea that the 8 steps (from the sofa to the bed) on the ol’ phone pedometer is enough.
Come January 1st, although I know all these re-evaluations are important (and probably essential), I can’t help but feel like I wouldn’t mind just getting dressed up and going out with friends for a bit of dancing and a few Mojito’s just to keep things a little fun on the dark, rainy and apparently stormy nights – ta very much, Storm Eleanor.
Before all the December festivities, I thought it was about time I should invest in suitable boots for dancing to some tooons. I’m always looking for items that I know I will wear again and again – and again. I spotted these leopard print boots on Simply Be and knew they would be the most wearable. I wasn’t wrong. Not only are they bloody comfortable, they also go with a surprising amount of my charity shop clothes.
As well as having all the sparkly party dresses on Simply Be, they also have many a comfy shoes if, like me, you’re all about the comfort on a cold but fun January evening out. Although if you do end up out this not-so-sunny evening/week/month, don’t forget to pack your hat, rain mac, umbrella, waterproof trousers and fishing waders…
