Since it’s the middle of December and we can now say ‘it’s Christmas next week’, I have been opting for maximum comfort (as always) but somewhat festive outfits. This shirt is the perfect December shirt. It is oversized (so there’s room for nutroast, potatoes, parsnips, Christmas pudding, prosecco etc. etc.), it’s velvet (and therefore looks as though I’ve made a little effort) and it’s super comfortable so is the perfect replacement for my oversized winter pyjamas which I usually end up wearing for 96% of December.
As well as ticking all the ‘is the comfortable/festive/acceptable in public’ boxes, this outfit is made up almost entirely of second-hand purchases. Minus the boots (which I have worn so many times I have possibly made money from buying them…possibly) my outfit cost less than £15. Having started my new job a few months ago (and leaving the student life behind, once again) I feel as though I haven’t had as much time to spend in my favourite second hand haunts – but with the New Year etching ever closer I’m hoping that wardrobes will be cleared out as part of that fresh start for January, or as a certain Ms Jones would put it ‘a new year, a brand new me’. So, I’ll be ready outside Oxfam, Sue Ryder, The Prospect Hospice and all my other favourite shops with my credit card ready to go and grab the best of the wardrobe clear-outs!
