I recently saw an advertising campaign for a high-street shoe band encouraging us to start planning our outfits around our chosen shoe (rather than picking shoes based on an outfit). This is what I have done with this dress-boot combo. When I heard about Oxfam’s online competition I knew instantly I wanted to incorporate one of my favourite Oxfam purchases (the boots) into a 70’s inspired outfit. From floaty, barely-feels-like-they’re-there skirts to beautiful blouses. I absolutely love everything about the era full of geometric patterns, an excess of fabric (flares) and a hell-uva lot of colour. Although the dress looks rather snazzy and perhaps a little to dressy for daytime (for some!) it’s the comfiest darn thing I have worn in a long ol’ while and I think it’s going to be one of those items I wear over and over come summer. Now all I need are some fresh flowers and I’ll be that punk rocker with flowers in my hair who Sandi Thom and I so desperately wanted to be back in 2006!
