Every July when all those weather records are broken (e.g. hottest July EVER, driest month on record etc etc) I look into my wardrobe and think ‘what in earth did I wear last summer?!’ I’m probably one of the worst at handling the sunshine. On a beach I will sit under an umbrella and read a book, at a picnic I will suggest sitting under a tree and as the temperature rose last week my boyfriend brought up the fact that I had said either ‘I’m too hot’ or ‘the heat is unbearable’ approximately once every ten minutes throughout the day. All I can say is that I wouldn’t handle emigrating to Australia at all well!
Last week, in a desperate attempt to keep cool whilst remaining appropriately dressed, I wore this loose fitting, floaty skirt with this sleeveless black crop top (both from Oxfam). I stuck with this outfit as the temperature remained high and it saw me comfortably through cocktail happy hours, lunch dates, sewing sessions and last minute necessity packing for my holiday. I will be in Sri Lanka as this post goes live. I will let you know how I handle the heat… 🙂
