An Oxfam Party Dress

Dress: Oxfam (DIY’d), Shoes: Primark, Tights: Topshop, Bag: Etsy

In the summer I purchased an 80’s prom-style dress from Oxfam (originally from Laura Ashley). It was the kind of dress that you would imagine would feature heavily on TV in an 80’s prom scene as it was a classic – the bright pink colour, the big ol’ shoulders, the midi (almost ankle) length and the big bow feature. I bought it as I just couldn’t resist the almost theatrical element of it – I especially loved the low back/big bow feature. Fast forward a few (read: a lot of) months and I have finally got around to DIY’ing that 80’s dress to my taste (as shown in the pictures). I shortened the length to one that would be better for my short legs and I hacked off the humungous shoulders to leave the dress sleeveless. I also dyed the dress with a black dye but the material didn’t fully take in the dye so I was left with a dress this dark maroon colour which I (luckily) quite liked πŸ™‚ Love a good charity shop bargain that you

Happy belated 2015 to you – hope it’s been a good one to you so far and I’m not alone in failing to stick to my New Years resolution of less chocolate this year. New resolution: have no resolutions.

Love, Hannah x

That dress looks gorgeous! I love the back – I understand why you picked it up! I'd have never known it was originally bright pink.
