26th of June

Dress & Bag: Topshop, Trainers: New Balance, Sunglasses: H&M

On a trip to a small village near my home on the 26th of June I decided to opt for a comfy dress with my faithful New Balance trainers. Since I overpack for even the smallest of day trips this backpack has been good to me.

Top & Trousers: Oxfam (originally St Michaels: Marks & Spencer), Bag: Primark, Sandals: Topshop Sunglasses:H&M

Today seems like a good day to post this since it is Wednesday and that means that the last episode in Channel 4's This Old Thing is on the box later. I've really enjoyed this show and it has only strengthened my love for all things vintage.

Skirt & Belt: Oxfam, Top & Sunglasses: H&M, Bag: Primark

This skirt is a new favourite of mine. It had been in my 'I need to alter this' pile for a good ol' while after finding it in a charity shop a few months ago - it was a few sizes to big so I just took the sides in slightly and it was good to go. It's so easy to throw on.

Dress: Urban Outfitters, Shoes: Converse, Bag: H&M

I felt oddly girly in this outfit - the old and dirty converse did not help. With the sun still out towards the end of June I got to give one of my more summery dresses a wear without wishing I'd worn tights for the entire day.

Re-inventing a charity shop purchase

(Picture 1: Dress from a Vintage shop, Picture 2: Jumper from Oxfam)

I love nothing more than spending a Saturday afternoon hunting down vintage gems or scouting out charity shop bargains. The euphoria felt when finding an old treasure or an irresistible bargain is too fun to pass up on. My love for all things vintage/charity shop is reflected throughout the archives of my blog (as shown above). I also enjoy adapting clothes to make them unique.

I have been after a dark denim jacket for a good ol' while so when I spotted the bargain-licious light denim jacket (below) in my local Oxfam I bought it with the intention of dyeing it and adding some detail. With festival season upon us this DIY project seemed to come at the perfect time. Denim jackets are so versatile - they can be worn with denim shorts (hey - if double denim is good enough for Rihanna, it's good enough for me) or with a white lace dress and chunky boots.

Re-inventing a charity shop purchase

Ingredients for this DIY

 - A jacket (the one I used was 100% cotton)
 - Black Dylon Dye
 - Salt
 - Rubber gloves
 - Trim or material
 - Thread
 - Sewing Machine (optional)

The Dyeing Part

I used black Dylon Dye which was simple and easy to use.

The Trim Part

Picking trims is the fun part. You can be as creative, quirky and wonderful as you like. I've recently seen a denim jacket with a giant picture of a cat ironed on the back and another one with a leopard print panel with a chain trim - you really can do anything!

Pick your trims and threads. Pin to the jacket and sew on.

There you have it. A charity shop bargain adapted into something unique. Here's a little picture of me taking my new jacket out for a spin.

So, what are you waiting for? Click HERE to be directed to the denim jackets on the Oxfam website and get DIY-ing.

Let me know if you get round to personalising any charity shop bargains as I would love to see them.

Love, Hannah

Shirt & Belt: Oxfam, Hat & Glasses: H&M

I bought this dress/shirt in Oxfam a while back and wasn't sure how much I loved it. I liked it enough to buy it but since it was £3 that doesn't say too much. I saw a shirt in H&M a few months back which I thought was really cool - see HEREI think I am going to attempt to adapt this checked shirt to be more of a strapless casual dress similar to the H&M one... and since it was only £3 I'm not to worried about the outcome but I'll let you know how it goes either way :)

Dress: ASOS, Bag: Oxfam, Sunglasses: H&M, Shoes: River Island

I bought this dress a while back from ASOS and I have worn it a lot but it hasn't featured on this blog yet - not to sure why but since I am featuring every outfit from June it was bound to make an appearance :)

I wasn't lying the other day when I said I have worn this shirt a lot. It's so easy to wear. This time I decided to wear it with my eBay cycling shorts which I have also worn a lot.

Dress: Urban Outfitters, T-Shirt & Sandals: Topshop, Bag: Primark, Sunglasses: H&M

This dress is now in the sale in stores but I couldn't find it online. HERE is a similar style of dress from the Urban Outfitters sale which I love but I am trying to resist buying so it would be great if you could buy it so it goes out of stock.

Shirt: Charity Shop (Originally from ASOS Maternity), Backpack: Topshop, Shoes: River Island, Leggings: H&M, T-Shirt: New Look

I found this shirt in my local charity shop and I totally fell in love straight away - I've worn it so much since purchasing it which makes price per wear almost free (or 50p per wear).

Shorts: Topshop (similar here), T-Shirt: Urban Outfitters, Bag: Primark, Sunglasses: H&M

These shorts are another beaut for a lazy dresser like me. They are super comfy but have a loud print so they can be worn with a plain t-shirt and trainers and you still look like you've made some sort of effort.

Dress: Topshop, Bag: Primark, Trainers: New Balance, Sunglasses: Free with Cosmopolitan

These New Balance trainers have been good to me. They were my Christmas present last year and I have worn them a-a lot. They're great for taking away if you need fashion-y trainers but also want to partake in some sort of running/sport activities whilst on holiday.

Dress: Urban Outfitters, Shoes & T-Shirt: Topshop, Bag: Primark

A few days of sun following my holiday - then the rain started. It wasn't so bad but since I was trying to take a picture of my outfits everyday in June I had to incorporate an umbrella into this one.

The sun arrived so I braved this outfit. As soon as I went in any kind of shade I regretted my decision to leave my jumper at home.

My face was ready to make an appearance on the 13th. With a lot of moisturisor and make-up my nose didn't look as though it could peel off.

Skirt: Handmade

It's just a short post from me today. This picture is from the day after I returned home from holiday and looked a bit of a state (a red & peeling nose is not the one). My favourite part of this outfit was the skirt. I have re-discovered this skirt after making it on a Sunday afternoon in January (see here). It's super easy to wear and is very comfortable. I made it using a great tutorial on a Pair & a Spare's blog (see here). There are so many amazing tutorials on this blog so I would definitely recommend taking a look.

Have a great day.
