A Cox & Baloney Hen Party

Faux Fur: ASOS, Headband: Miss Selfridge

This post is a more of a 'What I'm wearing on my face' kind of post. The rain has prevented any outdoor outfit posts this week. I just can't see the 'drowned rat' look taking off - as much as I would love it to in the current climate.

Last weekend I headed off to Bristol for a weekend away with some Hens as my friend is soon to be a Mrs. Armed with a bucket-load of jelly shots and (inappropriately shaped) cakes we set off for a converted barn which proved the perfect location for some table top dancing and wheel-barrow races. The weekend also consisted of a (slightly more) civilised trip to Cox and Baloney in Bristol. Cox and Baloney is the most perfect location for a hen party. As well as being a cosy cafe and a clothes shop with plenty of wonderful silk head-scarves they host hen/wedding/birthday parties at which you can get involved and make your own vintage hair fascinator or get your hair and make-up done the old fashioned way. My friends, the cake and the vintage make-up made me a pretty happy gal - what more could I have asked for.

Happy Friday!

#3 Start the week on a high...Hearts, Tartan & DIY

Tartan Skirt - Hand Made, T-Shirt - Topshop, Tights - H&M, Flatforms - Next

This skirt is made from the same material as last week's 'Start the week' post - I made the hair tie with scraps left over from when I made this skirt. During the first few miles (hours) of my Gossip Girl marathon I started sewing this easy-to-make skirt. It only took one Sunday afternoon to put (sew) together and no sewing machine was required. The tutorial I followed was from A Pair & a Spare's Blog - it was THIS post. Be warned - if you navigate to this Blog and head over to the project gallery you will want to re-create the whole entire gallery. Only visit when you have a few days free...!

Happy Monday!

Green of Hearts

Dress: Topshop (Old), Jacket - Oasis, Boots - Schuh, Bag - Charity Shop, Hat - TKMaxx. Tights - H&M

This dress is a golden (green) oldie. A few years ago I spotted this in Topshop and fell a little bit in love. I'm a big fan of pockets which this dress has so it's a winner all round...it's the little things! Not to worry - I did not go jacket-less all day - I flung it off for a few seconds for picture purposes only. I then flung it back on to continue with the cold day.

Hope you're having a lovely week!

#2 Start the week on a high....With a Tartan Scrunchie

Last weekend I lost the whole 2 days to Gossip Girl season 4. I started on the Friday and before I knew it was Sunday and I had watched 22 episodes. I felt guilty but knew I had to continue the Gossip Girl marathon struggle after work on Monday. I had to watch season 5. Anyway, I felt guilty for being unproductive for days on end so I got out the ol' sewing box,  found a scrap of tartan material and elastic and made this scrunchie - this has made me feel SLIGHTLY more productive. I feel towards the end of this week I might have made a years supply of hair ties - Season 6 is going to start after work.

Happy Monday!

Tartan Jacket

Jacket - Judy's Vintage Market, Dress - Topshop, Shirt & Backpack- Primark, Hat - H&M, Necklace - Charity Shop

This is possibly the 103rd time this jacket has made an appearance on this little blog but I wear it a lot - when the days are cold and I have to choose between this and my leather jacket - this one wins every time! I feel pretty slouchy wearing this jacket but hopefully I've disguised the slouchy-ness and look like I've made a bit of an effort with this outfit by popping on an embellished collar and a ma-hoo-sive necklace.

Hope you're having a wonderful week :-)

#1 Start the week on a high...With a bow tie

Bow Tie - Beau Tie, T-Shirt: Topshop, Hat - H&M

Monday's are hard. Coffee is a necessity and I regularly rely on Sprinkle of Glitters 'Motivational Mondays' for a little help. However, alongside these necessities I also think sometimes it's nice to incorporate a little bit of fun into a Monday's outfit. Today I have gone with a bow tie - it's perfect because there's no way you can looked stressed and be wearing a bow tie at the same time. It just wouldn't work!

This post also fits in nicely into a mini New Years resolution of mine. Every year my sister and I have this same New Year's resolution that we can never stick too. It is 'Wear more Jewellery' - what can I say? We're an ambitious family. Every Monday from now I am going to try to wear something I don't normally choose for Monday!

Wish me luck & Happy Monday :-)

Cloud 9

Jacket & Roll-Neck: H&M, Skirt: Charity Shop, Hat: TK Maxx, Boots: New Look, Necklace: Urban Outfitters

I purchased the roll-neck and this jacket when I went sale shopping on boxing day - neither of these items were in the sale - I'm a terrible person. When sale shopping I just can't help it - I find myself gravitating towards the tidy part of the store - I've stopped 'sale shopping' now as I just can't afford it anymore.

Have a lovely evening and don't let the sales fool you - as they have me.

OVERSIZED COAT II

Jacket: Charity Shop, Shorts: Urban Outfitters, Shirt: Topshop, Boot - New Look, Hat: H&M

Another year, another oversized coat. This one was £3.50 in the charity shop - I was apparently really happy with this price as I forgot to take the tag out and showcased it around the supermarket the other day. I don't think anyone had the heart to point this out to me but we live 'n' learn, we live 'n' learn. After purchasing this jacket I had to convince my Mum it was completely different to THIS red one - it's not really but for £3.50 I probably wouldn't mind if it was exactly the same...!

Hope you've had a great week.

Happy New Year!

Skirt: Handmade, Roll-Neck: H&M, Necklace: Urban Outfitters

Happy 2014! Hope you had a wonderful New Years Eve and 2014 has been kind to you so far! This year my resolution **I decided to stick with one** is to (learn to) make some more clothes and adapt the clothes I do have. At the start of 2013 I made this tartan skirt. I then made two more of versions of this skirt in different fabrics (including THIS one) - adventurous! It seemed easier to stick with one pattern! I feel the year has come to venture further and discover more (amateur-friendly) sewing patterns! It's going to be a wild one...!

Lots of love, hope and sparkly things for 2014!
